I decided to use today’s blog to focus on gratitude and a few things that bring me joy. Oft times it’s the little things. With everything happening(mass shootings, sexism, racism, classism….), I thought maybe you could share a few things in your realm that are positive; that make you smile. Click here to share yours….Can’t wait to read them. Here are a few of mine.
I Am Grateful For:
Waking up every morning. Whenever I speak with my father, which is everyday, he reminds me what a blessing it truly is to wake up every morning in your right mind; with all your faculties functioning. To be able to see. Feel. Touch. Taste. Smell. Breathe. Live. On an almost daily basis I am reminded that tomorrow is not promised to any of us.
Relationships. Whether it’s between you and your Higher Being. Parent and child. Physician and patient. Spouse to spouse. Sibling to sibling. Friend to friend. Mentor to mentee. Master to pet. Relationships and all they add to our lives…..PRICELESS. I LOVE my parents. Daughter. Wife. Siblings. Friends. Patients. Family. Dog. Though there can always be an element of hurt. Pain. Anger. Disappointment. They bring me joy unspeakable.
My Job. Being Dr. Angela has afforded me opportunities beyond descript. I won’t even go into all that the brand has exposed me to; whether it be the media via videos, quotes in national publications, etc., being able to serve as a mentor and role model to women of all ages and walks of life is quite an honor. Living in an amazing community and being able to afford whatever you qualify as “the good things” in life. Having women/girls trust me with their health, secrets. Being a physician is one of my greatest loves. I LOVE IT!!
Being a mom. Walking my mini to the bus stop every morning; my wife, dog, and I. So glad to share this experience; to be able to have this experience. Though hard work, for sure, it invigorates me, energizes me, forces me to be my BEST self. Reminds me it’s ok to laugh at life; take it easy sometime….and my wife; so happy to be doing this with her. Not sure I could explain what “dick” means to our eight year old alone(LMFAO!!!)
Being me. Loud. Black. Female. Intelligent. Funny. Aloof. Intelligent. Petite. Strong. Sensitive. Tough. Me. Nobody does ME better than ME. I LOVE who I am. Being who I am. Though it’s not easy all the time, imagine lil ole me having to overcome things; i.e., obstacles, life, etc. I wouldn’t change it for the world.
I hope today’s post has managed to shed a sliver of light on the fact that there is ALWAYS a good for every bad. It all comes down to perspective and what YOU choose to focus on.
Until Next Time,
Look Better. Feel Better. Be Better.
Dr. Angela
