As I reflected on the day’s events, I thought about Labor and all the changes it puts us through. I mean, women in labor…..for some of you, it’s like I’ve never seen you before!!!! Do I know you? Of course I do. I remember you from that first prenatal visit when we were all so excited about the pregnancy, to that woman in the late third trimester who is just DONE! THEN, during the throes of labor, it’s like something out of the Exorcist. The screams. The moans. The language. Whatever it takes to get you through.
After last night’s experience of delivering a 10 pound baby from a woman with no epidural, it got me to thinking. Dr. Angela, what are the 5 most OUTRAGEOUS things you’ve heard women say during the labor and delivery process? What OUTLANDISH things did you say or do during your own labor and delivery experience? Tell me yours and I’ll tell you mine. Click here to share your stories with me on Facebook. Here are mine.
Top 5 OUTRAGEOUS Things I’ve Heard Women Say During Labor and Delivery:
THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT! I love this one. Oft times screamed at the baby’s father who is trying to console, nurture, hand hold….whatever can be done to calm, soothe the laboring mom.
I DON’T BELIEVE YOU! I have heard this said to me on multiple occasions. Typically follows my saying: “the baby’s almost here.” Trust me, if you weren’t close to delivering, I would NOT be in the delivery room(smile); especially not at 3 in the morning.
I’M MAD AT YOU! As wonderful as babies are, do you think they’re excluded from all of this. I have heard pushing moms shout this at their babies as they are trying to push them out.
I’M NEVER DOING THIS AGAIN! One of my faves. Especially when it happens to be delivery number 3 or 4!
I CAN’T DO THIS! But you CAN. You WILL. You ARE. You are doing it! With each moan, groan, grunt, scream, you are one push closer to delivering baby. YOU are amazing!!! Such a pleasure, honor, and privilege to assist in welcoming your bundle into the world!
Hoping this blog post brought a smile, maybe even a laugh, to your day!
Until next time,
Look Better. Feel Better. Be Better.
